Traditional stories have been tried over a long period of time and they are familiar to the children. The texts are often highly patterned and may feature repetition and choruses. Because there is a repetitive structure, in a rhythmic way, children can participate easily.
For example:
'Wolf: Little pig, little pig! Let me come in.
Pig: No, no. By the hair of my chinny chin chin, I will not let you come in.
Wolf: Then I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow your house down.'
Books based on "The 3 Little Pigs":
* I normally intruduce the vocabulary related to the story before I read the book/tell the story. I teach vocabulary using flashcards because reinforces words during learning and allows pupils to obtain the meaning quickly.
¿Es el lobo un villano feroz o una víctima?
Cuando hay un conflicto ¿es una buena idea escuchar sólo a una de las partes? Con el cuento "Los 3 cerditos" sólo conocemos una versión. Pero ¿y el lobo? ¿Alguien ha escuchado la versión del lobo?
